I bet when you first see this name, you must have the same question as I do, Diaoyutai? Is that the one in Beijing that all the governors stay? Well, kind of correct. Diaoyutai Hotel Hangzhou actually is a brand new hotel that opened a month before the G20 summit, it is the first to showcase every new concept that Diaoyutai brand is introducing of Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality in China.

The hotel is located in the core area of CBD at Qianjiang New Town of Hangzhou, alongside Qiantang River. Once open the door, you can walk into the riverfront landscape and enjoy the wonderful scenery of the city. It has not only inherited the traditional essence of Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, but also embraced contemporary elements, reflecting in hotel design, food & beverage experience, and the warmest service, where guests can enjoy the highest level Chinese courtesy in Hangzhou, one of the eight ancient capitals in China.  

162 elegant guestrooms, 60 square meters each, with spacious bathroom and walk-in closet. Each room has incorporated a large number of Chinese elements, the bookshelf, the lamp, the book, the jewelry box, the big and round bathtub is our favorite, and the huge balcony with spectacular river view is the hightlight of the room. 

The Hotel has three restaurants, The Lounge, Royal Court, and Pinju Hangzhou. The Lounge which is an all-day dining restaurant serving Chinese and Western Food. Royal Court is a Chinese Restaurant with exclusive private dining rooms serving “Diaoyutai” and renowned Chinese cuisine. Pinju Hangzhou is a casual dining Chinese Restaurant, offering Hangzhou and Shanghai cuisine. The food there is delicate but the price is very friendly, so don’t let the grand look stop you walking inside. Even sometimes you have to dine alone, Pinju could be the choice, order a soup, one vegetable dish, one meat, and a dim sum will not cost you for more than 200RMB. Here is what we had: Crispy Noodles topping with Preserved Vegetable, Bamboo Shoot & Shredded Pork (38RMB), Chef Specialty “Jigong” Flavour Fish (38RMB), Braised Pork Belly with Preserved Vegetable in Dark Soy Sauce (58RMB), 4 Pieces Steamed Pork Dumplings (28RMB), and if you ask for it, they can bring you the wine by glass from The Lounge.
