All right now, this place might not be for everyone. It might not even be for anyone, but we’ve got to give you variety. If we did hotel buffet reviews all of the time, it would get a bit boring. If we only did places located next to the lake, it would be a bit too fishy. So now we’re bringing you wild boar. The waiter at Liu Lian Ge was so excited about the wild boar, if we hadn’t ordered it, he probably would have quit his job. After all, he said that they just got the meat straight from his hometown in Jiangxi province. The restaurant is small, it’s located way over to the west, and there was nobody standing at the door ready to open it when we got in, nor anyone ready to give us the old “huanying xia zi guangling” when we left. We’re talking wild boar here. And that’s not all we’re talking.
At Liu Lian Ge, they’ve also offer deer, goose, pheasant, and rabbit. And…are you ready for this? Cuckoo Bird. We’ve never seen this before and we didn’t go the whole nine yards, but as mentioned, we did get the wild boar, and of course it was like pork, but more tender and with more flavor. We also enjoyed the Fried Minced Pork with Pickled Beans, which is normally not available outside of restaurants serving food from Hunan. This place is not worth the taxi ride all the way over to the west, but if you’re in the neighborhood, and in the mood for something a little different, it satisfies the need for a bit of variety. If anything, this place has got to have some luck. They opened the restaurant at 8:08pm, on the eighth of August in 2008. And something tells us that the clock is not a cuckoo.
