Located on the second floor of the Euro-America Center (EAC), just above Starbucks, you’ll find Post; the third iteration of the Jiangnanyi Restaurant franchise. Post brings you all the classic dishes you know and love from their original restaurant, plus some new fusion dishes that are as creative as they are tasty. Tack on to that a very well-stocked full bar, and a sleek, spacious interior and you’ve got everything one could need for a great time out.
On the chilly afternoon we went for lunch we were greeted by a member of their attentive staff and escorted, past flat-screen backed bar, to our table. The interior is decked out in a tasteful mix of contemporary lines and light rustic woods. The ambience is warm and inviting, and there’s plenty of space for all the tasty dishes they have on offer.
We had to order their famous jiaomaji 椒麻鸡(68RMB), to see if it was as good as their sister establishments, and we’re happy to report, it was. This dish is a fragrant celebration of succulent chicken and copious amounts of hot, numbing Sichuan flower pepper. Our lips were literally buzzing with the flavor of this dish, and we couldn’t have been happier taking down each tasty morsel. We followed this up with their meatballs and preserved vegetables 霉干菜肉圆 (68RMB). While not aesthetically pleasing, it’s definitely pleasing to the taste buds, but beware, this dish is a meal in and of itself. Next up we had a couple small dishes; a yummy curry potato and cauliflower 蔬菜咖喱(20RMB), and baked dumplings with diced tomatoes and cheese 芝士饺子 (28RMB/6) which the kids are sure to love. Other dishes worth trying are the 3 cup chicken 三杯鸡 (38RMB), curry shrimp 咖喱虾 (48RMB), and crab roe with tofu 蟹黄豆腐 (28RMB). The Sichuan-style green beans 川味四季豆 (15RMB) make for healthy treat.
We washed all this down with a refreshing grapefruit drink (25RMB/500ml), an always pleasing bottle of Delirium Tremens (55RMB). They’ve got an array of imported beers, both bottle and draft, including Paulaner, Hoegaarden, Franziskaner, Maredsous, Duvel, and Stella Artois. At the bar you can order a number of cocktails for only 58RMB, we tried their dry martini and were very happy with it. All in all, if you’re looking for a nice place with great food, great drinks, at great prices; Post is the place.
