Simply put, Mamala wowed us. Located in the far back right corner of Loft 49, the pink warehouse on Tongyi Rd., you likely would never find it if you were not looking. But this place is worth looking for. It is good, really good.
When the MORE crew arrived, we immediately felt comfortable among the cool wood and brick industrial design. The restaurant is well-laid out, featuring ample seating and an open kitchen. They are proud to let customers see their food prepared. As with any great restaurant, the food is where Mamala really shines. They do not actually have a menu, they serve what the chef recommends based on what is in season and fresh. The result of this unique approach is fantastic.
Here is how it works: call and make a reservation for your party. If you have any special dietary restrictions or requests, let them know. They will prepare you a feast of amazing, European-influenced, cuisine, priced somewhere between 120-180RMB per person. The more people in your party the cheaper it gets. Lamb Chops with Mint Sauce, Braised Chicken Legs, Gazpacho Soup, Fried Sea Bass with Sweet Potato Mash, Grilled Pumpkin, even Lasagna. Honestly, everything was spectacular, but we particularly loved the Lamb Chops, Chicken Legs, and Sea Bass.
The price covers all your food and dessert. They also have a wide range of delicious coffees, quality wines and cold beers available a la carte. Reservations one day in advance are recommended, but walk-ins are also welcome to enjoy whatever is on special that day. The private patio in back looks like an ideal place for a romantic dinner for two on a nice fall evening.
Wi-Fi and parking available.
