Dragon Well (longjing) was discovered around 230 AD. The well itself is a mere two meters in diameter, yet for some reason that's all it takes to start a legend. Of all the teas in China, Dragon Well tea is the best. Legend has it that the Emperor Qianlong passed through on an inspection, and after tasting the tea, stamped it as the Imperial Tea. Now, along with Meijiawu, it is one of the best spots to buy tea. Go there for a day and wander around. There's plenty to see, and if you're looking to buy, you are sure to find many eager teashop/teahouse/restaurant owners touting leaves picked from their own trees. The best time to buy tea is early spring. Busses 27, Y3.
